I cannot really imagine, what you are doing wrong. It is easy to use and should work in any case, see screen recording.

- Don't use the T+ tool for selecting text, the T+ tool is for creating a new text box.
- Maybe the text you try to select is a graphic object and not a text box?

"Textwriter" seems to be "TextMaker"?

As far as I know, there is not such a function in TextMaker.
You can only use calculations via the fields functions, but that will not convert numerical text into Dollars.

You can open files alternatively in a new program window with the command: File | Open in new window.

If you only want to use FreeOffice 2024, please uninstall FreeOffice 2021 first and then install FreeOffice 2024. You can also keep both in parallel, but this is not recommended.
