Perhaps I am missing something. You mentioned that you are using version 2.0 of SoftMaker Office. I have been away for a little while, I only know the versions by their years.
Could you please confirm that you are able to insert the file, but that it is just not playing? I assume it plays fine in video player?

SoftMaker Office Suite 2.0 is a retail version of SoftMaker Office 2016 for the North American market.

OfficeSuite 2.0 uses an old API for videos (so that it is still compatible with Windows XP). You need an MCI driver for MP4 files, but I am not sure if such a driver exists and where to find it. You could still convert your video to AVI format (search online for a converter) and insert that into your presentation.
The current version, SoftMaker Office 2081, uses a modern API and embedding MP4 should work there.
