did I lost the file?

Hello,
I have a big problem. I have been working all day on a document and then I accidentally closed it. Did I lost the whole day work? Is there any way how to reopen/recover the file? I can´t find anything in the app menu or the manual.
I am desperate, please help.

Thank you for posting your problem. If you haven't disabled the backup option, please:

1. Locate the *.bak file matching your original file's name.
2. Open it in TextMaker.
3. Save it with the original file extension.
4. Use a slightly different filename (e.g., add '_restored').
