Excluding footnotes from word count?

I'm writing a paper with a strict word count, but footnotes are specifically not to be included in the final word count. It would make my life a lot easier if I could edit the TextMaker word count to exclude footnotes, but I can't seem to figure out how. Is it possible to exclude footnotes?

Select the whole text, then TextMaker displays the number of words in the selected text.
