Videos not working in Presentations 2024

Hello,

I tried to implement videos in my Presentation 2024 slides, but I keep getting the error message:
"Unable to play video (Probably missing codec.)"

However, the videos in the same presentation run when I open it with LibreOffice (just the formatting is ruined), and videos run with any other player, too. I tried several formats, and keep getting the error (the original file format of all my videos is .mp4).

I also tried the tip to run Presentations 2024 with `LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=nvidia presentations24`through terminal, but the error persists. Can you please help me to figure out what is wrong?

AS the error says... You are missing a codec. Ensure you have all the gstreamer codecs (good, bad, ugly), as well as other codecs that are not part of of the gstreamer architecture: libx264, ffmpeg and so on. Mos distributions have an article explaining how to install all media codecs.
You may then ask: Then why does it work on LibreOffice? Well, most likely because or libreoffice looks for codec A and if it doesn't sees it looks for B, or has the codecs built-in.
The LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME won't do a thing because is not graphics related.

Thank you for the reply. I have installed any possible library on my Linux Mint (latest version), through:

It still does not work with Presentations 2024, but with any other software that I have on my computer for presentations (ONLYOFFICE, LibreOffice, ...) . Can you please outline any specific library that Presentations 2024 may not include but all other software does somehow have implemented and that is not in the above list?

I do not use mint, nor do I use Presentations regularly, and those times I have I haven't linked any videos.

Take a look at https://wiki.linuxmintusers.de/index.ph ... eta-codecs. They list all media codecs available for Mint, this may help.

Is possible you need libmpeg and/or ffmpeg and libx264 (for mpeg4-acv). There are others there on the list related to mpeg4 too.

To be honest I am guessing at the moment. Some video formats can be tricky. All I can say is: It seems PResentations does not make use of the gstreamer framework, hence the need of the other non-gstreamer codecs.

Thanks for checking anyway. Here goes my solution:

Switch to MS Office 365; the free version of PowerPoint plays and renders everything perfectly well.

It works because web browsers have all video codecs they need build-in. You should raise this issue with Mint and let them know you can't play mp4 videos outside the gstreamer platform
