SmartText compatibility between TextMaker, PlanMaker, and Presentations

Post by pdeverson »

How can I get SmartText entries created in TextMaker to also work in PlanMaker and Presentations?

Thank you for posting your concern.

Yes, it is not automatically synchronized. We have forwarded this as an improvement suggestion.

Meanwhile, you can manually copy tmsmart.dat from Documents/SoftMaker/Settings and paste it in same folder as pmsmart.dat and prsmart.dat.

If you want these entries to synchronize across TextMaker, PlanMaker, and Presentations automatically, please use the Auto correction feature instead of SmartText. AutoCorrect is already synchronized across all three applications.

SmartText includes additional features, such as formatting in TextMaker, that cannot be synchronized across applications.

SmartText compatibility between TextMaker, PlanMaker, and Presentations usually depends on how the entries are stored and whether they are saved in a shared system-wide template or only within a single application profile. In many setups, SmartText created in TextMaker won’t automatically appear in the other apps unless they are placed in a common SmartText database or synced user directory. It’s also worth checking if all three programs are using the same version and shared configuration path, as mismatches there often prevent cross-application availability.

As far as I know, SmartText entries are usually application-specific, so entries created in TextMaker may not automatically appear in PlanMaker or Presentations. One workaround is to export or manually recreate the most commonly used entries in each program. It would definitely be useful if SoftMaker added a shared SmartText database across the whole Office suite in a future update. If anyone has discovered a sync method, shared folder setup, or hidden option for this, I’d also be very interested to hear about it.
