I have a document saved as .tmdx that I have opened and modified successfully many times. However, today, when I went to open the document, it reads only "This file format is not supported." I do not have the .bak file, as I have so many large files that creating backups for each one would take up too much space. I have accessed an earlier version of the file that I saved as a manual backup, but it is old, and since then, I have added crucial material that I need to access as soon as possible.
I have seen forum posts on similar issues stating that if I upload the file here or email forum[at]softmaker.com with the link to this post, and the issue will be investigated. Is that still the case, or is there another way to resolve the issue?
This File Format is not supported

Thank you for sharing your concern. I understand that securing your important data files may require some additional storage space, but it's a worthwhile investment to protect against potential data loss. We highly recommend enabling this backup feature to safeguard your valuable files.

Re: This File Format is not supported; Backup
Thank you for your reply, but recovery is no longer needed. I found that one of the manual backups I made did, in fact, have most of the information I lost from the current document. It is possible that the file/area of the drive was corrupted outside of Textmaker's fault, as a .docx version of the file was also unreadable by both MS Word and Google Docs. I have since run scan commands on my drive that removed remaining corrupted files (none of which were critical, fortunately) and circumvented the issue.
Related to what you said: as for backups, it would be more convenient if I could store the .bak files in another location from the original files. Is there currently a way to do this automatically, or do I have to manually move the .bak file each time I am done editing the document? Will the .bak files still work if they are in a separate folder from the main document?

Re: This File Format is not supported
When workign with sensitive information and/or time consuming, is always a good idea to keep plenty of backups (also keep a version on a usb, an external drive or whatever you fancy just in case). It is also good idea, when the file is getting way to big, to split (manually) the document.
Re: This File Format is not supported; Backup
Please click on ribbon command File | Options | Backup | There under option “Folder for file version” you can set desired folder, but please make sure this folder is always available and with same/better speed drive.iat_writing wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 8:46 pm Related to what you said: as for backups, it would be more convenient if I could store the .bak files in another location from the original files.
